Bayside Little League first became an idea back in 1950 when three fathers got together and decided to form some kind of a baseball program for the young boys of Bayside. Over a two to three year period this idea grew and in 1952 the Bayside Boys Club applied for and was granted a charter and it became Bayside Little League. In 1952 the league elected Jack McGorry as the President of Bayside Little League. Members of the Board at that time were Jack McDougall who was the President of the Bayside Lions Club, who donated a score board. Dewitt Harden of Harden's Funeral Home. Also involved Mrs. Loretta McEntee the owner of the Bayside Sports Store.
In 1953, Bayside Little League received the first baseball field in Crocheron Park. Present at the ceremony were Mrs. Honie Harms, Pres. Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. Mary O'Grady N.Y.C. Parks Dept., Dr. Eugene Chinnock Asst. Sup. of Schools.
For the last 75 years Bayside Little League has been devoted to the boys and girls of the Northeast Queens neighborhoods to offer the best and fairest baseball program around. Over all these years the Bayside Little League has been run by all Volunteers (Board members, Managers, Coaches and who else help). who want to keep the dream of becoming a professional sports player.
Presently BLL has 16 board members. Our policy is that Bayside Little League does not turn any child away because of the level of talent while at the same time ensuring the safety of all its members. Every child should have the opportunity to learn and play America's favorite sport. Over the years we have expanded the program to cover all four seasons. We offer a Winter baseball clinic, which runs from for 10 sessions for children 4 through 12 year old's. Our Spring baseball program runs April, May and June followed by Summer Little League District baseball and then our Fall Baseball Program which runs September through early November.
Our motto: "We do not just play the game, we teach the game".
